Foods To Avoid

Hard foods can break or damage wires and brackets. Sticky foods can get caught between brackets and wires. Sometimes it is also important to pay attention to how hard you chew and how much force you use when chewing.

Minimize sugary foods; they can promote tooth decay and related problems. Sodas or other soft drinks that contain sugar should be limited or avoided. The acidic content (phosphoric acid) in all sodas and the citric acid in fruit juices can weaken and dissolve tooth enamel over time if consumed excessively.

Nail biting, pencil and pen chewing as well as chewing on other foreign objects should be avoided.
